- Et barnebarn ble oppkalt etter ham ca 1669. Det kan bety at Adriaen da nylig var død ?

Hi,
The male Geelmuyden line goes back to Gerrit Adriaensz van Geelmuyden, born approx. 1632 in the netherlands. Family tradition tell that he should descend from spanish jews who were thrown out of Spain. We know that all jews were evicted from Spain in 1502.
My web page for the Geelmuyden family is www.Geelmuyden.info
I hope more of the textual information may later be translated into english. And more text will be submitted.
If it is true about the spanish jew ancestors, and if they are on Gerrits male line, I can easily imagine a theory where a relative joined the spanish colonies in America. I believe that could well explain that the dna could be transferred to the indian population.
Another theory could be the dutch west indies company. If Gerrit or his relative joined one of their expeditions or colonies, that could also explain the dna being transfered to America.
Both my theories concentrate on an early period. I am of course not excluding any later immigration. But from the known part of the family they did not emigrate to America until the 19th century. Though at the very end of the 18th century a male relative sailed from Copenhagen to the dutch island colonies east of middle America, before he went to the netherlands. He may also be a possibility. And of course your male line may have separated from the Geelmuyden line at some time before Gerrit.
How far do you trace your male line ancestors ?
Best wishes from
Knut
